Irene Brandt is a self-taught painter of naïve folk art. Her chosen medium is acrylic paint. The subjects are fanciful, humorous and colourful creations of her imagination, and a number of themes and images are developed from one painting to another. She likes her paintings to make people smile and to depict a positive side of life. She has exhibited in many countries in solo and mixed exhibitions. Her paintings are in permanent public collections in Brazil and Canada as well as in many private collections, and she has had images chosen for UNICEF Christmas cards.
