Irene Brandt is a self-taught painter of naïve folk art. Her chosen medium is acrylic paint. The subjects are fanciful, humorous and colourful creations of her imagination, and a number of themes and images are developed from one painting to another. She likes her paintings to make people smile and to depict a positive side of life. She has exhibited in many countries in solo and mixed exhibitions. As well as being in private collections, she has paintings in permanent public collections in Brazil and Canada, and has had images chosen for UNICEF Christmas cards.
